Treasury Stock

Definition

Shares a company has repurchased and holds itself.

Treasury stock is previously issued shares the company has bought back and not retired. These shares carry no voting rights or dividends and reduce shares outstanding. They can later be reissued for employee compensation, acquisitions, or to raise cash.
