Equity with fixed dividends and priority over common shares.

Preferred stock pays fixed dividends and ranks ahead of common stock for dividends and in liquidation, but usually carries no voting rights. It behaves like a hybrid of stock and bond, appealing to income investors while giving companies flexible financing.
