Compound Interest
Definition
Interest earned on both the principal and previously accrued interest.
Compound interest grows money faster than simple interest because each period interest is added to the balance and earns interest itself. Over long horizons the effect is dramatic, which is why Einstein reputedly called it the eighth wonder of the world. It powers long-term investing.
