Definition
Personal Consumption Expenditures, the Fed preferred inflation gauge.
The PCE price index measures the prices of goods and services consumed by households and adjusts for changing spending habits. The Federal Reserve favors core PCE over CPI when assessing inflation against its 2 percent target because of its broader, more flexible methodology.
