Inflation
Definition
The rate at which the general price level of goods and services rises over time.
Inflation erodes the purchasing power of money over time. It is measured by indices like the Consumer Price Index and Producer Price Index. Moderate inflation around 2 percent is considered healthy by central banks. Hyperinflation can destabilize entire economies.
