Candlestick Chart
Definition
A price chart showing open, high, low, and close for each period as candles.
Candlestick charts display four data points per period in a single shape: the body shows open and close, while wicks show the high and low. Green or white candles mean price rose; red or black means it fell. Traders read patterns like dojis and engulfing candles for signals.
In a sentence
On the candlestick chart, a long red candle showed the stock had sold off hard that day.
