A wealthy individual who funds startups at the earliest stages.

An angel investor uses personal wealth to back very early startups, often before venture capital steps in, in exchange for equity. Beyond money, angels frequently offer mentorship and connections. They accept high risk for the chance of large returns if the company succeeds.
