After-Hours Trading

Trading · intermediate
Definition

Trading that occurs after the regular market session closes.

After-hours trading runs after the 4 p.m. Eastern close, often reacting to earnings released post-market. Like pre-market, it features lower liquidity, wider spreads, and greater volatility. Prices set after hours can differ sharply from the next session official open.
